As an American, I personally love India and Indians. I don’t over-idealize them. India is not Shangri-La, nor is every Indian perfect, but I love Indian culture, Indian cinema, and Indian food.
What I love most is Indian hospitality. Last year, my wife and I visited India for the second time. We stayed in five different cities in the homes of five families I met through Quora. It was the best travel experience I ever had. Each of those families became our family, just as we became theirs.

There is a warmth of heart in many Indians that is unmistakable.
All said and done but this needs to be said. I am waiting for the day when Indians will be as appreciative of their own people as they are of people from other countries or celebrities. My personal experiences have destroyed the utopian view of indian hospitality. Sadly it doesn't extend to their own countrymen. But I still hope the youngsters in india will be different.Peace.
India is a spectacular place to visit.
Living here is another story :p.
Ma'am, please don't generalize. I would say most of us if not all are not like that. It all depends on how we are brought up. Parents must stop teaching their children about their caste, which I think is the cheapest perspective to look people upon. Hope the future generations realize this!!!!
I am not talking abt caste Navin. I agree with your comment but if you pay attention i am talking abt indians being kinder to a foreigner than their own people, which also reeks of casteism. Foreign and english are the new castes esp amongst people from weaker economic sections as we from the upper echelons of society value it.
I wonder if an Indian family will treat an Indian stranger in similar way. Indians have a tendancy to respect people from other nation and spit on their own people. Just saying

Lets be honest here. Indians don’t trust random Indians because of all the road scams and home robberies which have happened in the 80s, 90s and early 00s. I don’t blame any Indian for this. Few rotten thieves destroyed everything for the rest of the people.

I am an Indian( retired) and live six months in India with my son and his family and six months in the US with my daughter and her family. It is so, because we both don’t want to annoy any of the two. Though we are self-sufficient( getting good pension) but none of them would allow us to spend or they would feel small. That way we are lucky and I think that may be due to Indian culture, where the children are imbibed with an advice to look after the elders.
When comparing the two societies, of course there is a lot of difference, still I would appreciate a number of good points in the US society, which we don’t find in the Indian culture.
Nah. That’s not true. You live in Canada and India. Not the US. Your daughter and her family live in Canada. Not the US.

Thanks for sharing that wonderful experience. Yes, that’s the way in India. I am from India, but live away from my country. Even when I go back, my relatives and friends never let me spend any money, as I am treated as a guest! For me , it is both sad and joyful as I rarely have an opportunity to be of service to them when they are in need.

Your kind words means a lot to the people who loves India..It just Indian who don’t value their unique culture which makes me sad..People have complains even though they are not even trying to make any difference.Their responsibility ends by blaming government and police, sharing posts on social media. These people doesn’t even leave their seats for old man and pregnant lady..
YOU MADE MY DAY!!
Please visit my city Hyderabad,Telangana.I would love to host you guys.

May be that happened since you are white and from a country they assume everyone could benefit from. Suppose you are from Sierra Leone and you are the greatest musician from there, forget about the concert I am sure no Indian is even going to host you even if you pay for it. See your color and country is what they have idolised.
Not true ! I have experience of being with many foreigners including one from Nigeria as well in my hometown Lucknow ( Uttar Pradesh )
He was amazed by the affection our family and other people showed him, And you know what he cried , when he was about to leave for his country after 2 years.
I've found Indians to be obsessed with getting approval from outsiders to feel good about themselves, which is strange given the influence India has in international politics. Perhaps a vestige of its colonial past, and not so much inherent in its culture. The Brits, for example do not give a damn what the world thinks about them, and are convinced of their superiority. This might also be because of their religions (Hinduism, Buddhism, etc) - which don't teach that theirs is the only right path, but instead encourage questioning.
Getting concurrence of others is a way to ensure , we remain sensitive to others' opinion of us.
If you are sensitive to others opinion then you do not hurt them with your words with your behaviour and with your ego.
So being concerned with the opinions of others is a good thing a s long as it helps you to improve oneself and give the best of your civility and behaviour to them.
I hope I am able to explain what I intended to say

Overall: very positive
India is one of the few places where Jews were not persecuted by the government and were given equal rights with other citizens. India has also been a victim of terrorism, much like Israel, has been a good friend and ally to Israel, and — like Israel — was a victim of British imperialism; consequently, I feel a great deal of kinship and camaraderie towards India. I am also a fan of the cuisine. ;)
I personally feel very positive about Indians. Based on my experience with Indians, they are well-mannered and generally well educated. I also generally feel they are inquisitive in nature so they ask good questions and understand what's going on in the world.
